Chicago for Chicagoans
pay-what-you-can histories of Chicago neighborhoods, designed for residents
Chicago for Chicagoans is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to educating Chicagoans about the
history of their own city. We collaborate with passionate residents to offer pay-what-you-can walking tours and lecture events, featuring Chicago neighborhoods, hyper-local community history, and the rich stories behind the city streets we walk everyday.
Public walking tours and events take place throughout the year in different Chicago neighborhoods. There are no fees upfront for our programming, but we kindly suggest a $10-20 tip if you're able! We end our tours at neighborhood restaurants and hold our events at local venues, encouraging our participants to meet one another and discover new places to patronize. We partner with everyday Chicagoans, small businesses, and community organizations, encouraging everyone to explore, connect with, and enrich their own communities.
